“I do a pretty good job at casting, actually.”
Hi. I’m Keith.
I was born in Santa Monica and raised in Ventura County, so the film industry was always nearby. As a 15-year-old obsessed with movies and television, I started working at the local video store.
I spent my high school years thinking I wanted to be in front of the camera. At 18, that all changed when I began running camera for Skirts Casting. I instantly fell in love with the creativity that goes on behind the camera, so I enrolled in Los Angeles Film School to study directing and cinematography.
After graduating from film school in 2009, I returned to casting; spending the next several years working with my dear friend, Jodi Sonnenberg, at Sonnenberg Casting. There, I had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest award-winning directors in the industry; including Todd Field, Tom Hooper, and Kathryn Bigelow.
In 2020, I partnered with John McCarthy Casting, and in 2023, I took on the challenge of starting my own business, Keith Toll Casting, doing what I’ve known and loved for years.
I always try to make the audition experience as relaxed, fun, and comfortable as possible, which I think translates to a more authentic performance. For me, casting is all about the puzzle of putting together a perfect cast, and the challenge of finding that diamond in the rough.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife, daughter, and pup. I’m also a huge sports fan and will drop almost anything (except work!) to watch my favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
